LAA to take over livestock price reporting from AHDB
The Livestock Auctioneers’ Association (LAA) will take over the reporting of livestock market sales prices to industry, replacing the AHDB as the supplier of such data.
Launching on 1 January 2024, a new platform hosted by the LAA will deliver livestock market sales data.
This will include vital price information used by industry, along with more refined market insights and frequent updates.

Will Jackson, divisional director for engagement and strategy at the AHDB, said the board was working closely on the handover: “We are working with LAA on a transition to their new commercial system and expect it to provide the industry with efficient access to livestock market sales prices,” he said.
“AHDB will continue to process and publish other industry data currently available on our website to levy payers, as well as insights into the agricultural sector through our regular publications, analysis prices and outlooks.”
Calling this “the next stage of development” in how users access market price trends and analysis, LAA executive secretary Chris Dodds said the new system would help farm businesses make more informed decisions.
He explained: “Not only will this help reduce risks and avoid pitfalls, but ultimately it can help boost returns and maximise profits, based on instant trade updates and market trends.
“We see this as the next stage of development of what has been a robust and highly valuable service, providing even greater access to information and trends that will determine future decision-making.”
