British organic cheddar on sale in 2,400 US stores

Cheddar made from milk produced by Omsco farmers and processed at Somerset-based Wyke Farms has secured a major order to supply retailers in the US.
The organic dairy co-operative says its branded range of British Organic Dairy Co (BODC) cheddars are to be sold in 2,400 stores across the Atlantic.
The exports will include mature, extra mature and vintage organic cheddar from the BODC range.

All are made from milk supplied by Omsco farmers and produced in a farming system accredited by the USDA and UK Soil Association. Â
Peter Andrew, Omsco’s head of business development, described the reaction by US grocery buyers to the brand as “really positive’’.Â
“We now have more than 2,400 listings secured in stores across the States, and with container shipments of BODC cheddar now arriving in the US every month, we are confident that sales will go from strength to strength,’’ said Mr Andrew.
The deals were struck after the co-op appointed Trugman-Nash – a leading importer and distributor of cheddar into North America – as sole US distributor of the brand.
The BODC range was showcased at the International Dairy Deli and Bakery Association 2022 event in Atlanta and the Specialty Food Association’s 66th Summer Fancy Food Show in New York, the US’ largest food trade fairs.
