Eveline shine attracts 5200gns
A well-known show cow pulled in the bids at the special sale of Aberdeen Angus females at Carlisle last weekend and realised 5200gns.
The sale, held as part of the breed society’s autumn visit to the Lakes and Dales, saw Eveline of Mosston Muir lead the entry for breeder Tom Rennie from Forfar.
By Hurdcott Blair, Eveline has been a consistent top winner in the show ring and has bred well.
She was offered with twin heifer calves at foot by The Moss Polman and was in-calf to Mosston Muir El Krugerrand.
She joins Northumberland breeder P Robson.
Northallerton-based breeders G & A Brooks took 3000gns for their April 2003-bred heifer Bon Lea Elle. By Hurdcott Estimator, she too has been a consistent show winner with many championships at major shows this season. Buyers were J Gilmour & Co, East Lothian.
Also at 3000gns was Hardlawbank Frances, a six-month-old calf from Robert Dick, Holywood, Dumfries.
She is by the imported bull Ankonian Elixr and out of a Darlene Cruz dam.
Frances joins the Kelso-based herd of J Elliott.
Offering their first female from the herd’s Pride family were Messrs Ronan from Appleby, Cumbria.
Their Jerusalem Pride – by Blelack Blacksmith -realised 2700gns to D & P Evans, Middlesbrough.
Averages: six cows 2108, five served heifers 1575 and seven maiden heifers 2145. (Harrison & Hetherington).
