In the picturesque landscape of Northern Ireland lies the Farming and Furniture Company, a business that generates its own electricity using wind energy.
Curious about how their collaboration with BestWatt came to be and how they turn wind into profit? Read on!
From farm to energy supplier
The Farming and Furniture Company combines agricultural activities with a passion for renewable energy.
All the electricity generated by their wind turbine is exported to the power grid.
This decision is not only profitable but also earns them renewable onset credits (ROCs) from the government.
Thanks to their favourable location, which experiences frequent strong winds, they aim to produce between 120,000 and 180,000kWh of green electricity annually.
Why BestWatt?
Why did they choose BestWatt? According to the owners, the high-quality ABB inverter was a decisive factor. But that wasn’t all.
The 25-year warranty offered by Rengineers (BestWatt’s parent company) provided additional peace of mind.
Moreover, it was more cost-effective to install a BestWatt Nacelle on their existing tower than to renovate their old Endurance turbine — a renovation that would have cost £140,000 without a warranty.

“The BestWatt turbine is also much quieter than our previous one,” the owner shared. “That’s a big advantage because we no longer receive complaints from neighbours.”
The installation: Customisation and innovation
The Farming and Furniture Company opted for the BestWatt 80, which fits perfectly with their existing infrastructure.
The installation was customised to meet their grid export limits, ensuring a seamless transition from their old Endurance 73 kW turbine to the new BestWatt solution.
Collaboration with Rengineers
Collaboration with Rengineers (BestWatt) was a critical factor in the success of this project.
“In Northern Ireland, choosing BestWatt was a bold move at the time because they were less known back then, but that’s no longer the case today,” the owner admitted.
“It was worth the risk. The turbine performs exceptionally well, and there have been no issues.”
One challenge during the installation was modifying the old tower to accommodate the new nacelle.
Rengineers developed a special adapter plate to ensure everything fit perfectly.
“BestWatt gave us peace of mind,” said the owner. “We know that if something goes wrong, they’ll resolve it immediately.”
Conclusion
The story of the Farming and Furniture Company demonstrates how sustainable choices and strong partnerships pave the way for a successful energy transition.
With the help of Rengineers and BestWatt’s innovative technology, this Northern Irish farm is ready for a green future.
