Dawn Meats buys Jaspers beef business
Irish-owned Dawn Meats is buying beef abattoir and packer Jaspers (Treburley), which is based near Launceston, Cornwall.
The family business was formed in 1977 and kills up to 1,000 cattle a week, much of which is packed through its own cutting room. It employs 150 people, with all management and staff being retained by its new owner.
Jaspers had been doing business with business with Dawn Meats for many years, said director David Jasper. “We are pleased that Dawn has decided to invest in Cornwall and we are confident they will continue our tradition of providing great service to both our farmers and our customers”.
Dawn Meats was established in 1980 as a family enterprise and now runs six beef and lamb abattoirs in Ireland and six UK processing plants in Bedfordshire, Yorkshire, Cumbria, Ayrshire in Scotland, Devon and Cornwall.
It also has a retail and foodservice packing facility in Carmarthenshire, Wales, as well as rendering plants and sales and marketing offices in several other countries.
