Lantra makes farm safety online course free of charge

Lantra has announced that its farm safety e-learning course will be available freely from 26 July as part of Farm Safety Week.

The Agriculture Health and Safety: How to Meet Your Legal Responsibilities (E-Learning) course includes modules that cover various aspects of farm safety, with practical information and guidance.

Participants will receive a certificate upon successful completion of the course, which takes about two hours.

From April 2023 to March 2024, 38 people lost their lives, and more than 9,000 sustained serious injuries in the agriculture, fisheries and forestry industries in Great Britain.

With the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) moving away from routine farm safety inspections, Lantra says there is an increased need for up-to-date farm safety training and knowledge.

Marcus Potter, chief executive of Lantra, said: “Sadly, I receive all-too-regular notifications of farming fatalities from the same handful of causes, such as falls from heights, crushing by cattle, or falling objects.

“Lantra is committed to supporting the agricultural sector with health and safety training and ensuring that we give farmers and farmworkers the knowledge they need to remain safe.”
