Lantra farm safety courses available free of charge online
Land-based training and qualification body Lantra has made a number of its online safety courses free of charge to help reduce the number of accidents in the agricultural workplace.
Lantra made the announcement as part of its commitment to ensure farm businesses are provided with the best information to help keep everyone safe on farm.
Three agricultural health and safety courses containing practical guidance have been made freely available – how to meet your legal responsibilities, how to manage health, and children on farms.

Each course is roughly two hours long and participants will receive a certificate upon completion, with both employers and farm workers being encouraged to take it.
Farming remains one of the most dangerous professions, seeing 23 work-related fatal injuries across agriculture, fisheries, and forestry industries in the 12 months to March 2024 in Great Britain.
However, the Health and Safety Executive made the decision last year to stop the majority of routine farm safety inspections.
Marcus Potter, chief executive of Lantra, said: “Sadly, I regularly receive notifications of serious incidents, and fatalities on farms, with the same handful of causes cited, such as falls from heights and crushing by cattle, or falling objects.
“Lantra is committed to supporting the agricultural sector with health and safety training and ensuring that we give farmers and farm workers the knowledge they need to remain safe.
“Working with the Farm Safety Foundation, I am pleased to share our farm safety e-Learning suite free of charge.”
Courses can be found online on the Lantra website.
