7 great reasons to take part in Open Farm Sunday

The future of Britain’s food security and nature recovery hinges on public support for farming.

As farmers continue their transition to more sustainable, regenerative practices there has never been a more crucial time to connect directly with consumers and share the vital work being carried out, with nature friendly farming and our climate at the forefront.

And what better way to share these important messages than on farming’s annual event- Open Farm Sunday (OFS).

Over the past 18 years, OFS has been inspired and positively impacted the hearts and minds of over 3.25 million of visitors.

This year it takes place on Sunday 8th June 2025, with farms across the UK opening their gates to thousands of visitors- helping them gain a deeper appreciation of sustainable food production and the vital role farmers play as food producers.

  2. Build stronger community connections. Open Farm Sunday puts farming in the heart of communities, bringing together farmers and the public, fostering a sense of community.
  3. Showcase sustainable farming best practice. Demonstrate your commitment to farming with nature, soil health, wildlife conservation, and how you are addressing climate change – visitors are eager to know more.
  4. Positive PR for British food & farming. With hundreds of farmers across Britain hosting events, Open Farm Sunday gets farming in the national news in a positive way, generates conversations about our industry and drives demand for British food.
  5. Foster a better understanding of food production & sustainability. Help people understand the challenges and rewards of farming, as well as the importance of sustainable food systems.

LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming) is a charity that promotes and supports more sustainable farming to create a resilient food and farming system for future generations.

We connect: We connect farmers, innovators and industry to understand best practice sustainable farm management and how it can be applied most effectively to each farm’s unique situation.

We build trust: We provide assurance that growers are farming more sustainably through our independently audited LEAF Marque certification; from the health of their soils to how they engage with local communities.

We educate: Our team of qualified educational specialists work with schools, citizens and farmers across the UK to bring sustainable farming to life, both in schools and on-farm. LEAF promotes more regenerative farming through Integrated Farm Management (IFM). It is a whole farm business approach that uses the best of modern technology and traditional methods.
