British meat and dairy exporters target huge global audience
Food buyers from around the world are meeting with UK exporters at Anuga in Germany this week to discuss and develop export opportunities.
Anuga is the world’s largest trade fair for the food industry, with more than 7,800 exhibitors from 118 countries attending the event.
The AHDB is hosting 13 meat exporters, including Woodhead’s, Dunbia and Pilgrims UK, on its stand to promote British beef, lamb and pork, providing some of the 100,000 visitors with samples of great British food.

A number of British dairy exporters are also present and are being hosted by the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) in partnership with the AHDB to promote speciality cheeses, clotted cream and skimmed milk powder.
The show provides a great opportunity for exporters to meet with new and existing buyers from other global markets, and for UK importers to meet a range of overseas processors and suppliers, all under one roof.
Phil Hadley, AHDB director of international trade development, said: “We are committed to delivering on our objectives as outlined in our export strategy, Beyond Borders, and helping to attract international markets for our levy payers.
“Through the trade show, we are able to strengthen existing partnerships and establish new connections for our levy payers, as stated in our export campaign.”
DBT minister Kevin Hollinrake also attended the event to represent UK businesses looking to export their produce.
Mr Hollinrake said: “Across the UK, our agriculture, food and drink sectors help create thousands of well-paid jobs and grow our economy. I’m delighted to be here at Anuga, and to meet with UK businesses selling their products around the world.
“The UK is home to world-class food and drink and this government is committed to supporting our producers and manufacturers as they look to expand further into the overseas market.”
