Ayrshire livestock farms for sale
A brace of sizeable stock farms is coming to the market in east Ayrshire.
Muirston Farm at Sinclairston extends to almost 387 acres, mostly down to grass, although much is ploughable and can grow cereals.
The unit is lotted three ways. Muirston Farmhouse is a traditional stone three-bedroom farmhouse, with adjoining stone and slate buildings plus good modern buildings, including a new lambing shed and cattle court. This, plus 268 acres of Grade 4 (1) and (2) land, of which about 221 acres are ploughable, makes up the first lot.
The rest of the land is divided into two further lots: a 53-acre block of Grade 4 (2) soil and 65 acres of Grade 4 (1), all under grass.
The farm carries 200 beef cows and followers and finishes 1,500 lambs a year. SFP entitlements are excluded and offers of more than £1.575m are invited.
Laurieston Farm, by Hollybush, is for sale as a whole and includes three separate but easily accessible blocks of productive Grade 4 (1) and (2) land. This totals 250 acres and is said to grow high-yielding crops of grass and other forage.
The farm also includes a three-bedroom farmhouse, a traditional two-bedroom cottage, and modern and steading buildings. It was run as a 105-cow dairy unit plus followers until 2008, and since then has carried beef and sheep. The land rises from 115m to 215m and is eligible for LFA support. No SFP entitlements are included. Offers above £1.1m are invited. (For both farms: CKD Galbraith 01292 268 181)
