Pottinger has announced updates to its line-up of two-gang stubble cultivators.

The Synkro 1020 duckfoot share range is available in working widths from 2.5-6m and the smallest model requires a tractor of at least 70hp on the front.

The 1020 is designed to work in soils containing high quantities of organic matter, says Pottinger. Tool spacing has been increased to 450mm, which should reduce power requirements and the two-gang configuration is designed to keep the centre of gravity nearer to the tractor to make it easier to lift.

The guide plate and curved leg of the duckfoot share should help soil flow more easily through the machine, says Pottinger. Legs are shearbolt-protected as standard – the Austrian firm’s 550kg Nova trip leg can be picked from the options list – and working depth can be anything from 50-200mm.

There’s also the choice of a flat or steep share angle. The flat position offers a more uniform surface finish, says the company, while the steeper share angle loosens deeper-lying soil and improves the mixing effect.

Another new feature is the central adjustment of working depth and the rear roller’s weight can be transferred to the cultivator frame to improve ground penetration in dry, hard conditions.

The Synkro 2520 and 3020 come in rigid frame form, while the 4020K, 5020K and 6020K are hydraulic folding versions. The Synkro 3020 3m model is expected appeal to mixed/livestock farms, which is likely to make it the biggest seller.

Prices start at £7,581 for cultivators equipped with a 540mm diameter rear cage roller.
