Open Farm Sunday sign-ups off to a flyer

More than 200 farms have already registered to take part in Open Farm Sunday – a record number at this stage of the year.

Last year’s event attracted more than 200,000 visitors to a total of 365 farms. Organisers are now hoping the good start to the 2014 registrations will be maintained and that more than 400 farms will open to the public on 8 June.

Event manager Annabel Shackelton urged any farms considering taking part, to register as soon as possible.

“We are hoping to see the good start continue. So far the effort has been fantastic and we feel there is a growing momentum.

“Our hope is for 400 farms to take part. At this rate of sign-ups, we think the industry can do it,” said Ms Shackelton.

“The response from farms across England and Scotland has been exceptional and we are hoping that farms in Wales, where we have fewer registrations so far, will also come on board,” she said.
