Free Aviagen app calculates efficiency factor
Aviagen has announced the release of its first poultry management tool available as an app, released initially only in the UK.
The free app is available for Apple or Android devices. It lists EU Ross performance objectives, and has a European Performance Efficiency Factor (EPEF) calculator as well as a conversion tool geared to make industry-specific calculations.
European Ross Performance Objectives for its 308, 708 and PM3 products are stored within the app. Users can filter by days/weeks of age to see specific objectives for different aged birds.
An EPEF calculator can tell you if you qualify for the “400 club” – Ross’s group for broiler producers with an EPEF higher than 400 – and will invite you to find out more about joining the group.
Also included is a conversion tool, which has a number of industry-specific calculations such as area, stocking density temperature or light.
Alan Thomson, a European manager for Aviagen, said the app was intended as a quick-reference tool, not for specific advice. “Technology like this is great for managers who need to travel or visit multiple sites,” he said.
“We already have plans in the pipeline to enhance the app as time goes on and there will be more functionality added to it.”
The app is free, and can be downloaded for Apple devices here, or for Android devices here. It is also available for Windows, or Mac computers here.
