Openfield sends huge feed barley load to Saudi Arabia

Feed barley from more than 100 farms across the South West and West Midlands is heading to Saudi Arabia after five days of loading the MV Courageous at Portbury Docks by Openfield this week.

At 50,000t this is the largest single shipment to be exported from the UK this crop year. Some of this season’s surplus has already been shipped to North Africa, mainly Tunisia and Libya. However, direct sales to Saudi Arabia are rare given its preference for larger vessels loading 50,000-60,000t of cargo, said the co-op.
