Rain delays combines near Arundel

An inch of rain today (8 July) means harvest is yet to start at Tim Lock’s Houghton Farm, Arundel, Sussex.

“We’d like to be underway, but we’ve now got Monday pencilled in to start on Sequel winter barley, if we get a decent weekend.

“It suffered in the drought and lost a few tillers, but hopefully it will make up for it with a long, slow grain fill.

“It’s not going to be a bumper crop, that’s for sure.”
