Course to help potato store managers improve their skills
Potato store managers wishing to brush up on their technical knowledge and gain tips on minimising storage losses as well as hear the latest on using sprout suppressants are being invited to sign up to a dedicated course next spring.
Potato Storage Insight (PSI) is now taking bookings for its renowned Potato Store Managers’ Course in 2025.
Adrian Cunnington at PSI has been leading this annual, certificated course in the UK for nearly three decades.

Since 2022, the course has been a part of PSI’s offering to industry and aims to continue to set the standard for excellence in potato storage management.
The two-day course will run on 4 and 5 March, and be held at The Greetham Valley Hotel and Conference Centre near Oakham, Rutland.
Delegates will also have the opportunity to gain the Basis (Stored Potatoes) qualification by taking an online exam on 1 April 2025.
The training offers both new and experienced store managers to enhance their understanding of storage and benefit from the wealth of knowledge shared by Adrian Cunnington and his colleague, Glyn Harper, a respected trainer since 2010.
Both were formerly based at the AHDB Sutton Bridge research site for many years before its closure in 2021.
Residential programme
The course is designed as a two-day residential programme, and the format is tailored to give all participants in-depth understanding of storage management for their particular sector or specialisation.
Key elements of the course include risk and cost management, vital in today’s commercial potato storage world.
There is also extensive coverage of disease threats, sprout control management and the all-important topic of ventilation – crucial for environmental management in all potato stores.
