New online hub available to report grain rejections
The NFU has launched a new online platform to help improve fairness within the supply chain, allowing growers to report claims or rejections made against a load of grain.
Grain rejections are one of the most common reasons for arable members to contact the NFU, but to make changes and improvements, the organisation requires reliable evidence about the type and frequency of issues.

This is why the NFU is now gathering data for Defra and the supply chain using its new Contract fairness reporting hub.
Reports can be made in relation to incidents where lorryloads of wheat, barley, oilseed rape, oats, beans and peas were subject to a claim, allowance or rejection since 2019/2020 or later. It also includes any comments on perceived unfair contract terms and whether or not they have been resolved.
How it will work
The online hub includes a simple form where data will be collected anonymously in line with the Market Research Society code of conduct.
All responses will be analysed anonymously, ensuring member identity and related businesses and issues remain secure.
Once the evidence is compiled, the NFU aims to work with policymakers and the supply chain to explore ways to address any common issues, or ways to use the fairness provisions of the Agriculture Act 2020 to improve the movement of grain off farm.Â
The hub will remain open throughout the harvest season until 31 December 2022.
