Question

WHAT herbicide would be most suitable for controlling wild oats in winter barley this spring? No herbicide was applied in autumn

A GLANCE at the herbicides guide in Crops, 30 January issue, suggests a number of options including Topik from Novartis, Avenge from Cyanamid and Cheetah from AgrEvo.

However, Flamprop-M-Isopropyl (Commando) from Cyanamid is listed as a specific wild oat killer, useful for late, fire-engine treatments. But do check with the manufacturer on rate and timing of use on winter barley,
