Foliar phosphate wheat crop boost

Foliar phosphate could provide a useful boost to backward wheat crops this spring, says Headland‘s Charlie Bannister.

“Crops with poorly developed root systems do not have the capacity to cope with absorption of difficult nutrients such as phosphate, so this is an alternative way to provide a vital nutrient.”

In trials the best responses have come from combined autumn and spring applications but the latter has proved to be of more value when only one was applied, he said. “There is still time to take advantage of this approach this season,” he insisted.
