Nine “Potato Ambassador” growers are being sought by the Potato Council from around the country to spearhead and reinforce marketing campaigns aimed at the general public.

The growers would be asked to help tell the public that potatoes were healthy, filling, versatile, easy to prepare and great value for money, Caroline Evans, head of marketing for the Potato Council said.

“It won’t take too much of their time – just a few days a year to talk to local media, or perhaps visit a school to talk to children participating in our Grow Your Own Potato project.”

All ambassadors would be media trained, she said. “It is also a fantastic opportunity to raise the profile of your business.”
