Cranswick announces preliminary results

Food processor Cranswick has reported a pre-tax profit of £48.4m for 2011/12, a 3% rise on the previous year, according to its preliminary results.

The company, which is responsible for production of the Jamie Oliver and Weight Watchers brands, turned over £821m compared to £758.04m in 2010/11.

Cranswick reported strong sales revenue growth at 10%, reflecting growth across most product sectors. The primary driver for this was an increase in sales volumes, in the UK as well as the export market.

Expansion of Cranswick’s customer base and product range were responsible for a 39% sales growth in bacon, while sales of fresh pork, cooked meat and sausages were also up on last year.
