Average yields at Gaydon
David Brightman is combining wheat today (3 August) at Gaydon Hill Farm, Gaydon, Warwickshire, and is expecting it to yield about average.
“I’ve been running around madly trying to get driers working,” he said.
The Einstein was coming off at 19% moisture on the headlands and 13.5% in the middle of the field.
“I think second wheats will be about average, but the first wheats look pretty good. I might start combining them late tomorrow or on Friday.”
Mr Brightman had also cut 34ha (85 acres) of Astrid oilseed rape, which came off at 3.3t/ha (1.35t/acre).
“The rest is still too wet to cut.”
