Promising barley in Somerset

Barley samples are looking good so far, according to John Collins, store manager at Cannington Grain, Bridgwater, Somerset.
“So far we’ve had some Siberia winter barley at 65kg/hl and 12% moisture, and another variety at 71kg/hl and 15.2% moisture.
“It’s been nice grain, with good bushelweight.
“Harvest progress is fairly well average; we generally start between the 6th and 12th July.
“The crops are looking pretty good; if it carries on like this I think it will be quite a nice harvest.”
