Agromek: Self-propelled slurry spreader

Muck spreading is big business in Denmark so Agrometer’s self-propelled slurry spreader was bound to draw the crowds. The pumping specialist’s eye-catching SDS 7200 is now available in 36m working widths (24m and 30m can also be covered by folding in sections of the dribble bar). It is equipped with four distributor to keep a steady flow of slurry to the 45mm dribble hoses.

The spreader carries 650m of four-inch hose on its back, which the company believes is enough to cover 40ha in one set-up. It can also be delivered with 550m of five-inch hosing, which is said to increase output by up to 40%. The carrying capacity comes at a price, though – the spreader tips the scales at 16.6t when fully loaded and 10.5t with the hose unravelled.

Top speed on the road is 30kph (recommended speed when working in the field is 12kph), with power provided by a 225hp John Deere engine.

Slurry spreading usually means long hours in the driving seat so operators get the usual luxuries – air conditioning and CD player – as well as an on-board coffee machine and a monitor with DVD player.

The SDS 7200 with 36m dribble bar costs almost ÂŁ320,000.
