Great progress at JV Farming
Tim Merry has made excellent progress at JV Farming Ltd, Whitcombe, Dorset, having finished all the oilseed rape and winter barley.
“Winter barley was pleasing although oilseed rape was disappointing,” he said.
The 96ha of Cassia winter barley came in dry at 8.11t/ha.
But oilseed rape yields varied between 2.28t/ha and 3.07t/ha, with a mixture of varieties including Catana, Fashion, PR45 and Sesame over the 183ha.
Although ground conditions remained good, rain had stopped play so far today (2 August).
“We had a fantastic week last week which really dried the land, so we’ve had no problems travelling,” he said.
“As long as it brightens up I hope to be cutting Einstein wheat by the end of the week.”
