Video: Defra minister filmed in Latvian antler throwing contest
Farm minister George Eustice enjoyed a spot of antler throwing during a visit to a Latvian deer farm.
Mr Eustice participated in the unusual rural pastime during the informal European farm council trip hosted by Latvia, which currently holds the EU presidency.
He threw the antlers a respectable six or seven metres but was beaten by Farmers Weekly deputy news editor Philip Case, who threw the antlers further.
Reporters were able to attend the visit courtesy of the British Guild of Agricultural Journalists and the European Network of Agricultural Journalists.
Deer shed their antlers once a year in February before they regrow in April.
