Tractor driver dies after Essex road crash

A tractor driver has died following a serious road traffic collision in Essex involving three vehicles.
The man, from the Colchester area, was airlifted to hospital following the crash on the A13 road at Pitsea.
Emergency services were called at about 1.30pm on Monday (21 September) to reports that the carriageway had been blocked in both directions.
The collision involved a tractor, a HGV and a van. Police closed the road to allow the air ambulance to land.
The tractor driver was airlifted to Royal London Hospital but died shortly after arrival.
The HGV driver and driver of the van were treated for minor injuries.
Essex Police arrested the lorry driver on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
The family of the tractor driver has been informed of the tragedy.
Police advised motorists to avoid the area on Monday evening as road closures were likely to remain in place for several hours.
