Farmer offers £20k to catch pig killers

A farmer is offering a £20,000 reward for information about a knife attack that left three prize breeding sows dead at his farm.

Cumbrian farmer Robert Rose is offering the reward for information that leads to the successful arrest and conviction of the culprits.

The sickening attack happened at Mr Rose’s Valley of the Pigs site in Finsthwaite, Ulverston, between 11.30pm on Monday (8 October) and 9.30am on Tuesday (9 October).

In total, six pigs were stabbed with a knife in the attack. Three of the pigs died and three were seriously injured.

PC Mark Turner, of Cumbria Constabulary, said: “This attack left Mr Rose, the owner of the pigs distraught. It is an unprovoked attack on innocent animals and caused a lot of upset.

“We are appealing for anyone who was in the area on Monday into Tuesday or over the weekend who may have seen anything suspicious, any vehicles they did not recognise near to the farm or people taking an interest in the specific area to get in contact.”
