Details of CAP payments to be published online

The amounts paid to farmers and landowners who receive CAP funding will be published on the Defra website.

Following changes to European legislation, the Rural Payments Agency (RPA) said it was required to publish details of recipients of CAP subsidy payments on a single website.

The legislation, introduced last year across Europe, means that on 31 May details of all payments made between 16 October 2013 and 15 October 2014 will be published.

The data will be held on Defra’s searchable CAP payments website and will include the names and locations of the recipient, as well as details of the amounts and schemes for which payments have been made.

However, those who received less than the equivalent of €1,250 (£890) will not be identified.

Authors of the website farmsubsidy.org say they already “lift the lid” on who receives a share of an estimated €59bn (£42.5m) a year of farm subsidies.
