Lamma 2024: JCB Teleskid loader gets updated engine and cab

After a brief hiatus caused by emissions regulations, JCB is back with revamped versions of its Teleskid loaders.

As the name suggests, these compact machines combine the turning method of a conventional skid-steer with a telescopic boom, rather than a twin-arm loader. This gives the benefit of extra reach and allows a handy side door to be fitted.

The 3TS-8W wheeled model pictured, and its 3TS-8T tracked equivalent, can lift a maximum of 1.45t to a full height of more than 4m and come with boom suspension as standard.

Notable updates include fitment of the firm’s 3-litre, four-cylinder engine that develops 74hp and meets the latest emissions regs without the need for a DPF or AdBlue system.

It’s smaller and lighter than the 4.4-litre block used in its predecessor, yet it delivers more torque at lower rpm to give more usable power for tasks such as mucking out chicken housing and livestock sheds.

Operators also have more control over the hydrostatic transmission, with the ability to set maximum forward and reverse speeds in 1kph increments, up to its maximum of 20kph.

Attention has been given to the cab too, with a slicker control layout that reduces clutter in the driver’s eyeline and allows for a greater glazed area.

Retail price for the Teleskid 3TS-8W is £82,500.
