JCB ups Loadall power and expands transmission options

JCB has updated its series 3 Loadalls to meet the all-important Stage 5 emissions targets and, at the same time, added the Dualtech VT gearbox to more models.

The firm has tweaked its 4.8-litre engine to meet the tougher regulations via a combination of selective catalytic reduction (SCR) and diesel particulate filter (DPF) exhaust after-treatments.

There is no change in power for Agri-spec models, which still pack 109hp.

However, Agri Super and Agri Xtra variants have gained 5hp improvements to 130hp and 150hp, respectively, and torque has gone up to 550Nm and 660Nm (a 7% increase).

There is greater choice in the gearbox department, too, with the hybrid Dualtech VT previously reserved for the fanciest models now available on the 532-60 in either Agri or Agri Super spec.

Buyers shopping on a budget can opt for the Torquelock four-speed powershift as an alternative to the hydro-mechanical setup. 

All Loadalls further up the range – 538-60, 532-70, 542-70 and 536-95 ­– come with the choice of Agri, Agri Super or Agri Xtra spec and either the Dualtech VT or a six-speed powershifter.

The flagship 560-80 has the same transmission options, but isn’t available in Agri guise. 

Elsewhere, all series 3 machines now benefit from JCB’s seat-mounted joystick as standard, while top-spec Agri Xtra adds a limited slip diff front axle, dirt covers between the boom sections and central grease points.  

Prices start at £72,740 for the 532-60 Agri with a four-speed powershift gearbox, while the top-end 560-80 Agri Xtra with Dualtech VT is £116,865.
