Sima 2013: Snappy silage unwrapping from Goweil
Finding ways to make it easier to get the wrap off a silage bale on a front loader before you feed it continues to exercise the minds of clever machinery companies. Austrian firm Goweil is the latest maker to join the throng, but its system is a little different.
Rather than a single central clamp to prevent the plastic falling in with the silage, it uses a series of hooks to grip the plastic over a roughly 1m width. The hook mechanism is also attached to a separate flexible arm so it can accommodate all shapes and sizes of bale.
It’s on sale soon and the cost in France is €2,570 (£2,200).
