Malcolm Buckler is on the hunt for a Welco Hammermill. It was last produced in the 1950s by his late father, before the company started to manufacture Buckler sports cars.

The mill was designed to grind or mash a wide range of materials, from cereals to clover, to potatoes and bone meal, through a selection of perforated screens measuring 1-25mm.

Constructed from cast iron casing, with Welco stamped into it, there were 40 spinning heat-treated hammers flying around at 3,000-4,000 rpm. It required a modest 12-15hp, driven from any power source, although it best suited a tractor.

Outputs of up to 1.5t/hour were achievable, while a big fan blew the ground material into a twin bagging device.
