Mercedes’ debut X-Class pickup to start at £33,000
Mercedes has finally revealed its debut pickup, which is based on the Nissan Navara and starts at almost £33,000.
All three of the models – named Pure, Progressive and Power – come as a double cab with selectable all-wheel drive and low-range, drive selection mode and multi-link rear suspension.
There are two engine options – the X 220d four-cylinder, 2.3-litre turbocharged diesel offering 163hp or the X 250d that has the same block but is fitted with a twin-stage turbocharger to increase power to 190hp.
There’s also a V6 X 350d planned for mid-2018.

Basic versions come with a six-speed manual transmission, while a bit more cash will get you a seven-speed auto.
It’s no surprise to see a pretty stacked spec sheet that includes hill start assist, a reversing camera, 7in touchscreen and a batch of other driver aids. Cheap models get 17in alloys and fabric upholstery, while top-speccers get loads of LED lights, keyless start, fancy seats and big wheels.
There’s also the option of fitting a rear axle diff lock for £594 and increasing ground clearance by 20mm for £264.
First deliveries for vehicles ordered now are expected to be in January 2018.
