However well stocked a farm workshop becomes, there’s always space for a couple more tools.

Kielder heavy-duty half-inch impact wrench

British power tool brand Kielder has added a heavy-duty half-inch impact wrench to its line-up of 18V cordless equipment, which delivers up to 1,790Nm of nut-busting torque.

While the full beans are served up for loosening, users have the choice of three tightening torque settings – 363Nm, 736Nm and 1,050Nm – to reduce the risk of overdoing it and damaging threads.

Additional features include an electronic brake to give near-instant stopping when the trigger is released and an LED bulb to light the work.

For added durability, Kielder uses a digital brushless motor and all-metal gearbox, which it backs up with a three-year warranty.

The tool will be available from December, either through Kielder direct, or its network of dealers, one of which is Spaldings.

Teng 37” Pro Stack tool kit

For those cursing their ropey selection of badly organised workshop tools, Teng’s 37” Pro Stack kit offers an instant, although pricey, solution.

This mammoth 1,034-piece tool kit comes with almost everything an upwardly mobile mechanic could want, all slotted into 71 tailor-made trays housed in in a double-height wheeled tool chest.

It comes complete with a huge array of sockets, pliers, mole grips, screwdrivers and spanners, as well as hammers, torque wrenches, files and pry bars. There are even pop-rivet and nut-rivet guns, pullers and a tap-and-die set.

Sealey 8V cordless grease gun

Sealey’s neat 8V cordless grease gun is a low-cost option for those keen to take some of the hassle out of daily maintenance chores.

The lightweight tool is compatible with both 85g and 400g grease cartridges, which it can dispense at high pressure.

Power is provided by a compact 2Ah lithium-ion battery pack, and it comes with both a rigid pipe and flexible hose for dispensing the grease. A charger is also included in the package.

Sealey doesn’t publish a run time for the tool, but extra battery packs can be purchased for a reasonable £18.95 apiece.

Milwaukee cordless tyre inflator

Milwaukee’s rapidly expanding range of lithium-ion powered tools now includes a portable pump for tyres.

As the name suggests, the M18 Inflator is powered by the firm’s universal 18V battery packs, which give it enough puff to inflate tyres to a rock-hard 10.3bar (149psi).

Airflow isn’t sufficient for it to have much of an effect on large-volume tractor tyres, but it’s ideal for 4×4, ATV and small trailer tyres.

Milwaukee claims it can top up as many as 30 partially inflated 4×4 or van tyres to one charge of a 5Ah battery pack.

To make it easy for users to achieve the correct pressures, it also includes an auto function that stops the airflow when it reaches a pre-set figure – up to four of which can be stored in the memory.

For jobs that require greater airflow, Milwaukee offers a cordless compressor that pumps at rates of up to 48 litres/min.

Makita metal circular saw

It might look like a tool for buzzing through timber, but the latest CS002GZ cordless saw from Makita can slice into metal up to 67mm thick.

The 185mm tungsten-carbide blade is powered by a brushless motor and Makita’s top-of-the-range 40V lithium-ion battery system.

The firm’s “active feedback sensing technology” automatically adjusts the output according to the load placed on the blade and it has an integrated dust collecting system to catch the swarf.

Additional features include a soft-start function and twin LED lights to make it easier for the user to see in poor light.

Teng Mecca Pro three-quarter-inch socket set

The latest three-quarter-inch socket set from upmarket tool brand Teng offers 14 sockets, a sliding T-bar, ratchet and two extensions slotted into a neat carry case.

All pieces are formed from chrome-vanadium in a satin finish and come in a range of metric sizes from 19mm to 50mm.

The prize piece in the set is the heavy-duty ratchet with 72-tooth engagement.

This has a dial for quick direction changes, a rubber handle, and a quick-release button for speedy swapping of sockets.

Sealey 20V cordless pressure washer

A handy cordless pressure washer is a recent addition to Sealey’s range of 20V lithium-ion power tools.

Promising a flow rate of 120 litres/min and a working pressure of 22bar, it won’t be giving any mains-powered washers a run for their money.

However, it could prove handy for washing down small equipment when it’s away from home, such as ATVs and compact livestock trailers.

Batteries slot directly into the hand lance, which is fed by a 6m intake hose with integral filter that can be dipped into a tank or can of water. Users can choose between six spray patterns, simply by turning the nozzle.

It comes in a kit including two batteries and a charger, which are compatible with Sealey’s other 20V tools, such as drills, impact wrenches and angle grinders.

Kielder 115mm 18V angle grinder

Kielder’s growing line-up of 18V tools now includes a 115mm (4.5in) angle grinder powered by a digital brushless motor.

It’s designed for professional use, with an all-metal gearbox, aluminium head plate and overload system to protect it when being pushed hard.

The company has tried to keep the tool as compact as possible, fitting the battery at 90deg to the body to give an overall length of just 370mm.

Additional features include a five-stage controller that can vary speeds from 4,500 to 8,000rpm, tool-free disc changing, and a dual-function switch that can lock the tool in work.

It’s compatible with the firm’s interchangeable Type18 battery packs, with a 5Ah unit offering 20-22 minutes of grinding to a charge.

The tool is available through Kielder direct or dealers such as Spaldings. It comes with a three-year warranty.

Milwaukee RedLithium USB neck light

Thanks to two adjustable beams, Milwaukee’s USB Neck Light can illuminate dingy corners that are hard to reach with a standard work lamp or head torch.

Two brightness settings are offer, the most powerful of which offers 400 lumens of targeted lighting that minimises the risk of casting shadows.

A breathable sweat-resistant band is designed to grip the neck securely without causing discomfort.

However, if it does happen to slip off, it can withstand impacts from up to 2m.

Run time is up to 8 hours on the low power setting, after which power can be replenished using a USB cable.

Makita 40V cordless angle grinder

For years, Makita’s top-end tools ran on the same 18V battery packs, but the Japanese brand now has a premium 40V system to run its most powerful equipment.

The GA041G 125mm (5in) angle grinder is one of the most recent additions to this line-up.

Its brushless motor spins the cutting disc at speeds of up to 8,500rpm and offers variable speed control to suit different jobs.

Thanks to Bluetooth connectivity, it can also automatically start a dust-extraction system during work and turn it off again at the end of the task.

Disc changes are tool-free and it has a neat system to shut the motor down if the rotation speed suddenly starts to slow.

Makita heated jacket

Thanks to a series of built-in heating elements, Makita’s DCJ205 jacket brings some welcome comfort to those carrying out icy alfresco spannering jobs.

Power for the five heating zones ­– spread across the lower front and back – comes from one of the firm’s 18V LXT lithium-ion batteries stashed in a side pocket.

A fully charged 5Ah pack will give 29 hours of heat on the lowest of its three power settings, dropping to seven hours when it’s cranked up to max.

To keep the weather at bay, the jacket has a water and windproof polyester outer shell in a respectfully rural shade of olive green.

A fleece lining is also in place to keep the wearer warm even when the power isn’t switched on.

Water and electrics don’t normally mix, but Makita has managed to make the jacket machine washable and dryable so it can be quickly freshened up.
