CTM Harpley launches 10m Weed Surfer

Norfolk company CTM Harpley has launched a wider 10m version of its Weed Surfer trimmer.

It comes with the option of hydraulic wheels that allow the operator to trim the angle of the machine while he goes along, compensating for any field topography changes. The hydraulic wheels work independently on two spools and effectively eliminate yawing.

The company says that organic growers are currently using Weed Surfers on a wide variety of crops, including wheat, barley, beans, triticale, oats, clover and vetches.

The 10m version has 14 horizontal four-blade rotors beneath a steel-framed canopy, giving an 8.9m cut. That compares with the 10 rotors and 6.4m cut on the standard model.

Drive is from the tractor’s 1000 rpm pto via a slip clutch to gearboxes and drive shafts. An end-mounted drawbar, lighting and road wheels are provided.
