Following in the footsteps of Case-IH’s Magnum Rowtrac, German giant Claas is to offer the option of switching the monster rubber boots on the rear of its 900 Axion range to a track unit instead.

The freshly designed Terra Trac arrangement uses similar technology and set-up to that which adorns the firm’s combine range, albeit with a few tweaks to suit the tractors’ requirements.

The suspended track system was awarded an Agritechnica silver medal and is claimed to give the 900-series the pulling power of a crawler, while the individually suspended rollers should adapt to field contours for a smooth ride in the field and at 40kph on the road.

In other areas, Claas has been awarded a gold medal for the auto threshing control on its straw-walker and hybrid combines, along with a silver medal for a car alert system that uses telematics to plot the position of large tractors to help avoid collisions.
