Limousins sell to 5,100gns at Welshpool

The North West Midlands and North Wales Club show and sale of Limousin cattle saw prices rise to 5,100gns at Welshpool on the weekend (26 November), with the Sarkley herd of EH Pennie and Son, Monmouthshire, selling the top-priced lot.

Sale leader was June 2015-born Sarkley Lorenzo by Ampertaine Commander and out of Sarkley Heidy. Lorenzo boosted a 400-day growth EBV of +66 and sold to M and A Powell, Newtown, Powys.

The second lot through the ring made the second-highest price of 5,000gns.

August 2014-born Dafolog Jimmy, put forward by DA Thomas, Penybont, Carmarthen, made 5,000gns selling to WL Hamer, Montgomery, Powys. Jimmy is by Lowerffrydd Easyrider and out of Beaune.

Making 4,800gns for KI and E and HI Jones was Garnedd Llan, an Elite Hunter son out of Garnedd Brenhines. He sold to TT Jones and Co, Llanbrynmair, Powys.

The Jones family took the next-highest lot at 4,600gns with Garnedd Llywarch. By Bremore Djerk and out of Garnedd Fame, he headed home with Neuaddgoch Farms, Newtown, Powys.

Averages 19 bulls, £3,514.74; five females, £1,400.70 (Harrison and Hetherington in conjunction with Welshpool Livestock Sales).
