Dairy herd management system gets royal award
© Tim Scrivener A global dairy equipment company has been presented with an award by the Duke of Edinburgh at Buckingham Palace, in recognition for research and development in the field of dairy farming.
DeLaval was presented with the RABDF Prince Philip Award, which rewards innovations in the field of dairy farming, after winning the award at this year’s Livestock Event.
The firm were handed the gong for Herd Navigator, a dairy herd management system, which claims to offer 95% heat detection and information on reproduction efficiency.

Commenting on the accolade, the company’s Kieran FitzGerald said: “Herd Navigator represents a quantum leap in the development of proactive herd management.
“It will assist the farmer in taking preventive measures within reproduction, udder health – mastitis, feeding and feeding-related conditions.”
A certificate of merit was awarded to Dairy Spares with its Moover exhibit, an orthopaedic cow shoe for alleviating pressure on damaged claws.
The shoe was designed and manufactured by Moowell.
