Video: Huge straw trailer blaze

A dramatic tractor trailer fire in Bedfordshire was captured on film yesterday (1 September) by a shocked onlooker.

The video, posted on Facebook by “Jonny theboy”, shows the incident, which took place about 3pm in Everton.

Ten firefighters from Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service raced to the incident at the junction of Warden Hill and Sandy Road.

They arrived at 3.15pm and fought the fire with three water jets and a hose reel, with the fire declared “out” at 5.25pm as it took a while to extinguish all the embers.

No one was hurt in the incident, but a spokesman for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service said an adjacent house suffered heat damage. Details of what caused the fire are as yet unknown.

Rebecca Waldron, who was also in the area, tweeted: “Hats off to the farmers who did what they could while waiting for the fire brigade.”
