In pictures: Dairy farms with £10m price tag for sale
More than 1,000 acres of prime Pembrokeshire grassland is for sale as two modern dairy farms hit the market in Wales.
Both owned by Frederick Hiam Ltd, Broadmoor Farm is near Talbenny on the south-west coast with the smaller Corston Farm 18 miles away at Hundleton.
The company is restructuring and has a number of other interests in farming and vegetable packing, predominantly in the East of England.
The farms are being sold separately with Broadmoor available in three lots and Corston in four.

Broadmoor Farm has mainly Grade 2 land
Selling agent Savills said Broadmoor in particular was one of the most important, high-quality sales in Wales for a number of years.
Comprising about 800 acres of mainly Grade 2 land with some Grade 3, it has previously run 400 Holstein Friesians that produced an average of 9,500 litres/cow and won the All Wales Silage Competition in 2001.

Further investment in infrastructure would allow the operation to expand. Planning permission for an additional cubicle shed and associated slurry store for 400 cows is in place but expires in March 2018.

“Word of the sale is already out locally and so we have interest, but it will be interesting to see what comes in from further afield,” said Richard Binning, partner at Savills.
“We have a couple of buyers with rollover funds who are keen, so the early signs are good.”
Broadmoor’s main operation is run from two farmsteads providing grazing and cubicle housing for the herd, plus a 40-point rotary parlour.

The modern livestock buildings are portal framed and arranged around a collecting yard. Five houses are included too.

The ring-fenced land is put to pasture, maize and some wheat with about 500 acres capable of producing arable crops.
The land is mainly level to gently sloping with good access and bordered to the north and west by coastline. Lot three – an old airfield strip and adjoining land – is about 127 acres.

The other holding, Corston Farm, has 483 acres which are nearly all down to quick-growing grass varieties, except for a small area of woodland. Fields are evenly sized and easily accessed via farm tracks.
The farm’s extensive range of modern outbuildings include a 20:40 Herringbone parlour, cubicle housing for about 300 cows a covered collecting yard and feed and machinery stores.
Corston’s 483 acres are mainly classed as Grade 3 land
There is an underground slurry system and five silage clamps. The farm also has two cottages and two bungalows.
Broadmoor’s guide price is £6.2m for the whole, while Corston’s has been set at £3.8m.
