Steer takes Smithfield cattle title in Alfords double

Well, just for once I’ve managed to make the right call and the steer champion, Hanky Panky from Michael and Melanie Alford has taken the overall cattle title here at Smithfield. This one, by Bailea Oboron and bred by Andrew Anderson at Smallburn farms was bought from Thainestone for £4000 in September.

Taking the reserve overall was the heifer champion, also from the Alfords. This was Lady Ga Ga a British Blue cross by Netherwood Umpire and bought this spring at Ruthin from Trefor Jones for £6800 too.

It is a remarkable feat for the Alfords and hearty congratulations go to them for their win, having been close to it at all the main primestock shows this winter.
