£2400 top for British Blues at Skipton
British Blue prices topped at £2400 at Wednesday’s sale of pedigree males and females at Skipton, North Yorkshire.
Leading the trade was pure white bull from David and Rachel Capstick, Hellifield. The May 2007-born son of Serum was bought by Oldfield Bros, Gisburn.
At 2300gns was the reserve champion from the pre-sale show, Copgrove Blaze from Gareth Hogg, Well House Farm, Copgrove. This one is a son of Visconti De St Fontaine and is out of Gregmaur Vivian and sold to Tim Metcalfe, Clayton, Bradford.
Then at 2000gns was the day’s female and overall champion a November 2007-born heifer from Jack Wallbank, Kleasden, Clapham. The heifer, High Moss Chardonnay, is a daughter of Belgian sire Fancion De Ronchy, a sire sourced through Norbreck Genetics, and is out of Currarie U2. She was bought by Stephen Swales, Melbourne, York.
And another from the same home out of the same dam sold for 1900gns to Martin Sharp, Stainforth, Settle. This one, High Moss Donna is by Jaguar De Pierrecome and was born in March 2008.
