Sheep sector launches new entrants event

Young entrants interested in getting in to the sheep sector could benefit from an event organised by the National Sheep Association.

The Youthful Shepherds Event taking place on Saturday 8 June, at the Rutland Yard in Newmarket, will provide a meet-and-greet opportunity for young people who wish to “get a foot on the ladder” within the industry.

A key element of the event will be an open discussion forum – a designated area where young people can come and hear first-hand, examples of how others have succeeded within the sheep sector.

There will also be practical demonstrations, some hands-on training, the Eastern Region Young Shepherd of the Year Competition, and a BBQ and social evening.

NSA eastern region chairman Andrew Foulds hopes it will be the first of many similar events. “The importance of getting the right young people involved in our industry cannot be underestimated and we must all do our bit.”
