Syngenta Farm Sprayer Operator of the Year 2013 collects his trophy
George Sargent is this year’s Syngenta Farm Sprayer Operator of the Year, impressing the judges with his knowledge and sprayer setup.
He looks after crop protection for JG Fisher Ltd in Lincolnshire using a Sands Vision 3.0 to spray the 610ha of wheat, barley, beans, and oilseed rape at Hatcliffe, near Grimsby.
In conjunction with his employer, Mr Sargent has used his experience gained in 16 years of spraying, to develop a bespoke filling site, incorporating a waste management system to handle all eventualities.
AICC agronomist Peter Taylor, who was a judge along with former winner Andrew Myatt and Syngenta’s Tom Robinson, said he was a very worthy winner. “Not only did he have an excellent knowledge of the rules and legislation, he also had a very good chemical store and a top notch wash down area.”
The judges were also impressed with his electronic spraying records, all managed using his smartphone.
