Agritechnica: Deutz-Fahr finally unveils 11-series tractors
Visitors to Agritechnica finally got a look at the new range-toppers from Deutz-Fahr. The biggest member of the family is the 11-series which has three models providing 350, 400 and 440hp when boosted.
Power comes from a six-pot Mercedes engine, with a 10.6-litre unit in the smaller two and a monster 12.8-litre in the biggest model.
Max torque on the flagship model is 1,850Nm, it’ll lift 12t on the links and weighs in at 13.5t. Road speed is 60kph and it has a completely new cab, but it won’t be on sale for a couple of years – the version on show is still an early prototype.
Better suited to the UK market is probably the four-model 9 Series, which tops out with the 331hp 9340 TTV. A 7.8-litre Deutz engine is hidden under a racy-looking hood, but it’s generally smaller than the 11-series, with rear lift closer to 12t and it weighs a comparatively feather-light 10t.
The transmission is a new ZF system but uses the same four-range layout that you’ll find on smaller Deutz TTV tractors. The 9-series is set to be available in summer 2014.
