As with other seasonal machinery, it’s a case of all or nothing for big square balers – they’re either working flat out producing thousands of bales or they’re parked in the back of the barn.

A decent check is clearly essential so, with the help of Somerset-based Vaughan Agri’s Guy Maynard-Griffin, we discover how to get the best from a Claas Quadrant 2200 baler – which produces bales with a cross-section of 1.2m x 70cm.


 


While the Quadrant baler has its own individual design, there are many service checks that are equally applicable to big square balers produced by other manufacturers.
