Video: Crop breeding and genetics interactive lecture
The first in a series of five Arable Horizons interactive lectures by Farmers Weekly was broadcast live yesterday evening on the Farmers Weekly YouTube channel.
The series of expert-led talks, run in association with Syngenta, will examine some of the most exciting and innovative research set to change the way we farm over the next two decades and beyond.
From robot-assisted farming to gene-edited crops, these interactive talks will explore how scientific developments could deliver higher yields and cheaper production, while bringing a greener and more stable future for British agriculture.

The first event took place on 17 November and looked at the technological breakthroughs being made in agricultural crop breeding and genetics and how these advances will affect the lives of UK farmers.
The expert speaker was Alison Bentley, director of genetics and breeding at NIAB and was attended by some of the brightest and best farmers, agronomists, researchers and scientists from across the arable industry.
You can watch Dr Bentley’s talk below and register for a space at our next interactive lecture on our Arable Horizons website.
Future talks will cover the hot topics most important to UK arable: soil, biologicals, automated technology and climate change.
