John Deere celebrates its 175th anniversary this year and to mark the occasion Power Farming is visiting the firm’s birthplace in the American Midwest this week.The tour starts at John Deere’s original blacksmith shop where he built the first self-scouring plough before moving on to the firm’s Harvester Works in Moline, Illinois, it’s Des Moines cotton harvester and self-propelled sprayer factory, finishing at its tractor assembly plant in Waterloo, Iowa.
This fully-automated Gator buggy can drive itself, navigate independently and avoid obstacles. It can also be driven via remote control. Deere says the technology can be transferred to almost any machine. |
